Local drives unavailable from Menu:Index:Rescan

I can see all my attached mapped nw drives, but zero local drives, that is NTFS drives. I see my usb flashdrive which is FAT.
Is there a reason for this?
I wanted to scan just my local E: drive where My Documents are stored.
(I searched the board but couldn't find any answers)

Local NTFS drives should be updated automatically.

Maybe monitoring of your E:-drive is disabled? To ceck:

- Go to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => NTFS
- In the Local NTFS volumes: list, select your E:-drive
- Check if Monitor Changes is enabled for this drive


If not:
- n the Local NTFS volumes: list, Right-click your E:-drive
- Select Reindex from the context menu.

Another way to reindex your NTFS formatted E:-drive:
- Type or paste the following in the search bar:

/reindex E:

- Press ENTER

Progress will be shown in the statusbar.

Thanks for the info... I have several local NTFS drives on each pc. They're all in the index/database and Monitor Drives is selected for each. I guess the real reason I was asking for help, is I had just created a few documents, and I had partial names in the search box, but they were NOT showing up in my search results. I'd love to know the reason for this. It seems that in times past, I could leave search blank, and see all files being updated in real time, by the OS and other open apps.
Any ideas?

Also, I still find it curious, why everything 1.5 allows manual rescanning of each/all network mapped drives and local FAT drives, but NOT local NTFS drives.
Is this by design or a missing feature?

As already said: local NTFS volumes are updated automatically and in real-time, so no direct need to update the entries manually.
So it is by design.

Network adn FAT* drives are updated on a schedule, which can be bypassed using the rescan features..
