What is doing when "Updating database..."?

Post by elreymon »

Can anyone, please, explain what is the app doing while "Updating database..." just after opening the program?
Is not supposed that the service is doing it in the background?

Thanks in advance.

What version of Everything?

Do you keep the Everything Service always running, or do you shut it down?

How long does this updating take?

Are you indexing Properties?

The service is controlled by the Everything program to read some filesystem information.
If the program is not running, the service does nothing.

When Everything is started, it will first try to update its indexes (using the service.
Everything 1.4 has settings to postpone this updating. Or an option to start Everything at startupo and keep it running in the backgroud

But the sensible choice here is to upgrade to Everything 1.5 as this version updates its indexes in the background. That way Everything is usable right after the start.
