Show content of folders based on a wildcard

Post by daiwa_scarlet »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this software and I'm really enjoying how convenient it is. However, I have a question about searching for folder contents using wildcards. Here's my scenario:

I have the following folders on my desktop:
  • Test1
  • SomeTest
  • aTest
  • Testing
  • SomeFolder1
  • SomeFolder2
When I try to search for folder contents using the wildcard * in the search bar like this:

C:\Users\SomeUser\Desktop\*tes*

I don't get any results. I was expecting to see all the folders that contain the word "tes" in their name, but no results appear.

However, when I search using a specific folder name like:

C:\Users\SomeUser\Desktop\*Test1\

or
C:\Users\SomeUser\Desktop\* "Test1\"

It works fine, showing me the contents of that folder.

Ideally, I'd love to use a "lazy typing" method where I can quickly find the contents of folders with long but unique names without having to type the full name. Is there a way to achieve this kind of search functionality?

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might have enabled one of the search modifiers -- like Match Case -- under Menu => Search.
Other than that, your search looks fine.

BTW: Everything 1.4 or 1.5?

But is there also a way to match it with wildcard? As long as the word is contain inside the folder name, it will show all the content of those matching folders' name? like aTest? backup_test? as long there is a 'tes' on that word?
