I think this might be a little bit too much to ask.

It looks you have a very deep knowledge of Everything internals
Using an Alpha version and not willing to change some setting for the personal wishes
seems strange for me.

Re: Always press Esc to close
Everything 1.5 alpha is designed to run side-by-side with version 1.4, without influencing each other.
When the official 1.5 version will be released, it will likely upgrade 1.4 and inherit its settings.
I hope you changed your mind on that after reading the above.should not depend on any other thing.
Not really. Try exiting Excel, Notepad or your browser by pressing ESC ...and is also the windows style way
Some applications, mostly some viewers, do use ESC to close the application. These are straightforward applications (my opinion) that don't change files or the system. Everything 1.5 is *not* straightforward.
When Everything 1.5 introduced tabs, pressing ESC to close the window or even application would close all other tabs too, without even seeing what is going on in these tabs. That was the moment I definitely stopped using ESC to close the window.

I'm not "not willing", I wish it be default in release version, so I posted this suggestion.
