Not what you asked for, but ...
Did you know that you can access the files on your Android device from your regular Everything?

Hi aisazaro
there are many "everything" app that can do fast searching available for android but all of them not related to David carpenter.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q= ... ing&c=apps
you can test it easily.

There is no official Android version of Everything by voidtools yet.
An Android version of Everything is on my TODO list.

Re: Everything for android
All of the above seems to be about searching your windows computer from an android device. I'm interested in the opposite - Everything scanning/searching the contents of my Android device, I can't find any way to do it. Suggestions?

Re: Everything for android
Just found Fossify File Manager. Search results are instant in Recents and Storage tab. For some reason, it's very slow in Files tab.irajacobs wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 8:49 pm All of the above seems to be about searching your windows computer from an android device. Good thing is that it's open-source so any dev can contribute on github.

I would appreciate if someone would make it ignore accents and diacritics plus adjacent words.

Go to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => Folders and add your Android folder there.NotNull wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:16 pm Did you know that you can access the files on your Android device from your regular Everything?
- Your Android device needs to be connecetd and folder available (obviously).
- Do not run Everything as administrator

I have tried this prior to posting, and again just now. In Windows Explorer it shows the path asNotNull wrote: Fri May 17, 2024 3:35 pmGo to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => Folders and add your Android folder there.NotNull wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:16 pm Did you know that you can access the files on your Android device from your regular Everything?

"This PC\S24U\Internal storage"
But in Everything's folder browsing dialog, "S24U" does not appear in "This PC". Couldn't find it anywhere else, either.

Re: Everything for android
You will need Everything 1.5 to index the virtual android folder.

Re: Everything for Android
Hi.
I've followed the instructions to add my Android device to Everything, but all I see is "rescanning: [my folder address]" without any progress bar. It has been rescanning for more than 15 minutes without showing any new results on the screen.
Do I need to adjust any settings on my Android tablet?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Everything for Android
In my opinion, you need to switch on USB debugging on the tablet.
Then connect the Android tablet to the PC via USB cable.

Re: Everything for android
Indexing android devices in Everything is very slow.
Everything will index roughly 2000 items per minute.
Hover over the Rescanning text in the status bar to see the current folder being scanned.
Is this folder changing ?

Re: Everything for android
Hi.
Thanks Tuska and Void for your replies. I thought I had already activated USB debugging, but apparently that was not the case.
Once I enabled it, Everything is indexing the tablet, albeit slowly as you mentioned. The file names are changing as it indexes the tablet.
Thank you very much to both for your help.
I look forward to an Android version of Everything in the future.
Cheers.
