"Explorer Path" spawns multiple instances of Explorer.exe

Using 'Explorer Path' context menu or double clicking path column to open the containing folder spawns extra instances of explorer.exe. Not a big deal since they usually close themselves after a minute but I think the proper way is to make use of the main explorer.exe only. Only tested on win7/win8.

Firefox and utorrent used to have this same problem but have since been fixed. It seems like the fix has something to do with Windows 2000 compatibility. For reference and maybe to help find a solution:
