Opened-by hangs

Post by froggie »

when I enter opened-by: in the search bar, Everything hangs (dims the display and will not allow any more input). Not looping, little/no CPU usage.

And if you Search for,
everything.exe
, then preface that with
opened-by:
(so at that point you have,
opened-by:everything.exe
), does that work?

hangs as soon as you type the : at the end of opened-by:

I tried various ways to sneak up on it and they all hang.

Adding the column opened-by: also hangs

Everything was getting stuck querying pipes from its own process.

Everything 1.5.0.1281a should fix the issue.

Everything is hanging while trying to find the filename of a handle opened in OneDrive.Sync.Service.exe

I will have a work around in the next alpha update.
Everything will also get the opened-by list in a background thread in the next update.

For now, if you are not using OneDrive, please try terminating OneDrive.Sync.Service.exe.

Not using OneDrive, has disabled it through group policy. And there is not OneDrive.Sync.Service.exe running, have checked by process explorer.

Everything 1.5.0.1409a improves opened by performance.

Everything will now gather opened files in a background thread.

When I try to add the column opened-by i can not find it in the select property dialog.
Searching for "by" I only find "Encoded By" of type metadata.
Os is Windows 11 enterprise
