Directory Opus 13.0.40 (Beta) Build 8693 Comments now seen by Everything v1358a

For anyone using directory Opus v13 BETA, v13.0.40 Build 8693 comments can now be seen by Everything 1358a, at least on my PC. Can anyone confirm?

What about tags and labels. Can you see it through Everything? Because last time I checked I couldn't. BTW I do can see comments and rating too

Hmm... I can only get Everything (Version 1.5.0.1361a) to show the opus only comments. Ratings and Tags are not being shown. The following screenshot is from a test instance that I fired up to just test this.


@Void can you by any chance confirm for us which of the following Opus properties Everything is able to see:

• Ratings

• Tags

• Comments (I think its safe to assume Everything can see this)

• Labels

I have been coming across conflicting information in my search. Thank you.

None with Opus version 13+

The alternate data stream format changed and I haven't found any information on the new format.

Everything had rating and tag support for older opus versions.



Everything is pulling the comment from the Windows Property System.

Please try disabling opus properties:

• In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Advanced tab on the left.
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  opus
• Select opus_meta_information.
• Set the value to: false
• Click OK.

Maybe Everything will pull the rating and tags from the Windows Property System.

What is shown for these files under the Alternate Data Stream Names column?

Pardon me, I should have mentioned it earlier. I am on Opus 12
I was going to try your suggestion of setting opus_meta_information to false but it already was false. Maybe this the default setting?

But I did try setting it to true (and also cleared out tags, comment and ratings property indexing) when I rebuild the database, ratings show up and they also get updated too, If set it the INI setting back to false they disappear.

Tags don't seem to be getting picked up though. I tried indexing the tags property while opus_meta_information was set to true, it did not work.

Please take a look at the gif, in it I have included the Alternate Data Stream Names column:

opus_meta_information is currently off by default.

Could you please show the Alternate Data Stream Hex value for these files?
-Right click the result list column header and click Add columns....
Select Alternate Data Stream Hex and click OK.
This column will show the actual data in the alternate data streams.
-It might be easier to select the files, then right click under the Alternate Data Stream Hex column and click Copy Alternate Data Stream Hex instead of taking a screenshot as the values might be rather long..



-looks like the tags use [5]SummaryInformation which Everything supports out the box. (but doesn't appear to work here?)

@void Could you maybe contact the Directory Opus devs and ask them directly what change was made in v13 that caused this to stop working? Pretty sure that they will cooperate with you since they are nice guys

I am really not sure. If I knew abit about how Opus encodes tags/comments in the ADS stream I might have a better idea. It seems to me, they are using a single ADS per property. I otherwise I dont see how Everything can read Comments and ratings but not tags.

Everything 1.5.0.1362a adds support for [5]SummaryInformation tags, templates, last author and software properties.



The following [5]SummaryInformation properties are now supported:

• Title
• Subject
• Author
• Keywords (Tags)
• Comments
• Template
• Last Saved By (Last Author)
• Name of Creating Application (Software)

Sorry for the dumb question @void, but does this mean that Tags set by Directory Opus should be visible in Everything now?
Because I'm still being unable to get this to work. I have

but still can't.
Update: I do see now "Tags" for other filetypes, e.g. txt files. In my previous test, I was using a png file. Regardless of that, I noticed that the values doen't update if I change it.
I can see via Exiftool that when I write "keywords" to a png file in Directory Opus (same as Tags), they get written in IPTC=>Keywords and XMP=>Subject, but both values are empty in Everything for that particular image??

Everything will give priority to 5SummaryInformation.
The old opus tag information is overriding the tag from the system in Everything.
I'll remove opus tag information in the next alpha update.
Looks like they have moved to 5SummaryInformation.

Please try disabling opus_meta_information and see if the tags show up:

After set opus_meta_information to false, still with the same issues, but I found something that might be useful:
In a txt file:

• Set a value in Tag via Directory Opus => I can see the value in Everything.

• Set multiple tags via Directory Opus => I can only see the first value in Everything.

• If I delete all the Tags, they are not shown in Everything either, so the problem is not the lack of update, but that Everything can only show the first value.

In a jpg file: works as intended (single and multiple values)

In a mp4 file: works as intended (single and multiple values)

In a png file: They are not shown at all in Everything. As I said before, DOpus writes the tags for this file in IPTC=>Keywords and XMP=>Subject. Can Everything read this kind of information?

In a mp3 file: It doesn't work either. Seeing the info in Add Columns, it shows this in Alternate Data Stream Hex:

Yes, I can see in Everything all the comments I set via Directory Opus for all filetypes.
Also, I can confirm that tags are showing now as expected. (meaning the txt and mp3 file cases from before).
