Option request : retain run count when renaming within Everything

Post by jogo » Wed Jul 05, 2017 11:17 pm

Hi,

Would it be possible to retain the run count value when a file is renamed within Everything?

I frequently sort by run count to keep my most accessed files near the top. The run count is reset if I rename a file, which I understand. But would it be possible to retain the run count instead of resetting it, when the file is renamed within Everything?

Thanks for the excellent, excellent, software! It has quickly become integrated into my normal workflow. I can't imagine being without it.

Cheers,
- John

This is how the run count initially worked, unfortunately, how files are upgraded on Windows will end up overwriting your run count, for example:
A new file is downloaded, say newfile.exe and is to replace file.exe:
file.exe currently has a run count of 96.
newfile.exe will have a run count of 0.
When newfile.exe is renamed to file.exe (overwriting the existing file.exe) the run count for file.exe would reset to 0.

I'll consider an option to add the run count when renaming.
Thanks for the suggestion.
