Re: How to search for filenames with wildcards AND trailing spaces?

Curiously, the "<" grouping method did not work, however, the double quotes method worked a treat!

Thank you so much

Re: How to search for filenames with wildcards AND trailing spaces?

Thanks for the quick reply! But no, Regex is disabled.

I should also point out that I am using pipes to separate multiple criteria, eg

Code: Select all

House *|Farm *|Car *
(noting again the space after the word)

How to search for filenames with wildcards AND trailing spaces?

I am a bit puzzled by this chanllenge. Consider these files: House front 123.jpg Houseboat 456.jpg Housers 789.jpg From the above I only want to find filenames starting with "House" followed by a space, ie: House front 123.jpg I've tried "House *" (noting the space), but it doesn't seem to honour th...

How to exclude multiple files with wildcards?

This should be rather straightforward, but it is not working as expected. I want to exclude files beginning with "Donald", "Melania" and "Jared" in a particular folder. I thought it would be as simple as this: "C:\Pictures" !Donald*|!Melania*|!Jared* But that does not work :? What am I doing wrong?

Enable Exclude List - faster option? | add to Bookmarks?

I often toggle the "enable exclude list" on and off, depending on my mode of work. It's an excellent option, however, it's It's highly frustrating that toggling between excluding or not excluding forces a rescan of all drives. Is there any way for Everything to perhaps cache, store or otherwise reme...

Just chiming in to point out that Trend is now reporting "PUA.Win32.FileSearcher.E", not "C". The behaviour started yesterday, also FYI.

Everything won't exclude paths with special characters

I've noticed that it's not possible to add Exlcude paths with special characters , for example "Best photos 🖤". Even if I enter the 8.3 version of the path as an exclude path, it first seems to resolve it to the full name, so that potential workaround doesn't work either. Any updates on when this mi...

Re: Variable Delimiter option - for wider application compatibility

I'm confused now too. Does this mean I have to escape my commas to make them work as normal filename commas now, otherwise they behave as pipes?
I am not sure - that's a question for @void

Re: Variable Delimiter option - for wider application compatibility

Notepad++ parses JSON nicely. But I can see I am flogging a dead horse here, perhaps due to my limited understanding of "escaping-out" of something. Can I escape these thread? :) .. I'll let this one rest - would have been nice, but there are bigger fish to fry.

Re: Add Weeks/Days/Hours Old to Advanced Search

I think it's all there but not in an click=>done method. You have to type the commands Indeed it is, and all I needed was the code, not the interface. It took me a little while get the gist of the approach which is shown in the Constraints area of the help file as: <last|past|prev|current|this|comi...

Re: Variable Delimiter option - for wider application compatibility

Why can't you just search-and-replace your comma, tab, w/e delimiters with pipes on your own dime?
I agree with your comments, however, with frequent exchange of find sets between JSON & CSV and Everything, the process becomes somewhat tiresome. :?

Add Weeks/Days/Hours Old to Advanced Search

Bookmarks are brilliant, especially when you couple them with Advanced Search operators. It's easy to look at the extensive range of options and think - "this has every conceivable option" - however, I realised today it misses one important operator/criteria option: Older/Newer than Age/Weeks/Days/H...

Not quite following what you're wanting?
I am suggesting that custom delimiters be allowed to be set, rather than the default (and only) current delimiter "|"

Variable Delimiter option - for wider application compatibility

I have a lot of programs that creat/maintain lists with different delimiters than pipes "|" for example "," (JSON, CSV). Is it possible to set your preferred delimiter for use when searching for multiple strings?, eg "c:\" ThisFile,ThatFile,AnotherFile "c:\" ThisFile(ThatFile(AnotherFile "c:\" ThisF...

I was thinking that it would just be a case of right-clicking on the path field to append the active query with say "!C:\Exclu...

Re: Exclude path from results (single use only)

They are also great tips - I love Bookmarks!, however this is not the type of exclude that I wish to undertake on a permanent basis via a) Exclude List, or b) Bookmarks. As stated in the subject it is single use only (ie, not likely to ever need such an exclude again).

Exclude path from results (single use only)

Rather than toggling the Exclude List on and off in preferences (which results in a requery of the entire database), it would be fabulous to be able to right mouse click on the path and choose "Exclude this path from this query"
