tab closing causes everything timeout

Hello, whenever I try to close a tab, everything laggs. Here is a screenshot. This happens frequenty no matter if I close 1 tab with 5 tabs open or any number of tabs

I have also encountered similar behavior when closing tabs.

New issue, long standing issue... ?

I would...

exit Everything
make a copy of your Profile
start Everything with that copy using a different -instance <name>

open a few tabs
then remove your custom columns
close the tab

delay?

if not... then need to figure why the delay with the custom columns

& if still delay, then i'd look at ShellExView

Please send a mini crash dump when Everything hangs:

• Wait for Everything to hang.
• Please keep Everything open.
• Download Process Explorer from Microsoft:
  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
• In Process Explorer, select Everything64.exe (If there is two, select the one using the most memory)
• Right click Everything64.exe and under Create Dump, select Create Mini Dump.
• Choose a filename and click Save.
• Please upload this file here.

Privacy

The mini crash dump will shown exactly why Everything has hung.
My guess is Everything is waiting for an icon shell extension or a property handler.
I'll look into making Everything not block on certain threads when closing a tab.

Everything 1.5.0.1367a improves responsiveness when closing tabs.

I have fixed a few issues with blocking when reading offline file information.

There's still some major rewrites I need to do to fix Everything from hanging when a shell extension hangs/crashes.
I have started work on this, it will just take a long time to complete..



Please let me know if Everything is still hanging when closing tabs with this version.

so far so good no crashes as of yet but I will update when the situation arises. There have been alot of updates in this current version
