Clamping results list?

Post by Ghopper »

Hello,

Everything is one of the best programs ever made. My deepest respect to the developer.

I just installed v. 1.4.1.877x64.

The new features are absolutely fantastic. Previews, thumbnails, folder-sizes... It’s all simply amazing.

Probably due to my incompetence, I have one minor problem.

If I run more than one instance of Everything, and open a file from a list retrieved by an Everything search, that file-name immediately moves to the top of the list instead of remaining where it was originally located in the list.

This does not happen when I have only one instance of Everything open.

Does anyone know why this happens, or how I can prevent the file-name from jumping to the top of the list?

Thanks in advance -

An instance has it's own INI file and thus it's own settings.

It has to do with the way results are sorted
The Default is "Use last value" On first time use ther is no last value and the "last value" is set to Run count. (which means: most opened sorted first).
You can change the sort method "on-the-fly" through Menu:View > Sort By .
Or click on the respective header above the result list to sort it that way

If you always want Everything to start with the results sorted by (let's say) Name, you can change it in Menu:Tools > Options > Home > Sort: setting.
