search problem, repeatable

Post by screwycomputers » Sun Aug 02, 2009 3:45 am

running v1.2.1.371 on xp sp3 updated with pretty much all updates

have had issues finding things I was fairly sure existed, but finally found one with a known file, repeatable (on my system) issue, as odd as it is

" " used for displaying where I've type spaces only, not used in actual search

i have 2 small files referencing/named
"_Zack and Miri Make a ~" ...stuck "~" in place of diff endings of 2 files

if I type "miri" both original files are found, however if I type "zack" or "zack " none of them are found.

but, if I type "_zack" both are found... ???

i did copy one file to another drive to see if that changed anything, didn't other than now finding 3 files
btw "?zack" or "*zack" finds nothing

interesting that "zack" or "zack " do find
"Twintris (1995)(Zack)[h Flash].zip" &
"ZACK.html.tmp"

but "zack*" finds
"ZACK.html.tmp" &
"Zacken Normal.ttf"

i do have excludes on each drive covering the "RECYCLER" folder and one for the windows temp folders, other than that I believe it's a default install

still using everything as it's light & fast, but hopefully this is something related to my system/install or gets fixed

thanks...

What search options are enabled from the search menu?

Please make sure all search options are disabled.

:? it's the simple things that keep you humble...

thought i'd double checked for obvious things like that... (gotta remember to add an extra check for every decade past the third!!!)

at least I did expect that it was something on my end...

was expecting it to be software, the COMPUTERS software, not the stuff between my ears ;)

thanks
