Windows.Old.000 Files After Re-Install?

Post by capteelingurdian »

I just had to upgrade Windows 10.

In doing so, currently in m y Everything results I can see lots of my old files along a path of

Windows.Old.000

I'm GUESSING this is because I reimported the identical folders from a backup of My Documents? So that my

Plutonium Transport Beam

file is...in exactly the same place as it was on the OLD version of Win 10?

Either way, my questions are:

Why am I seeing Windows.Old.000

And, do I NEED to keep seeing it? It seems to have basically doubled my search results.

What is the reasoning behind having

Windows.Old.000

Is there a benefit to keeping it? As I said it seems to be complicating my searching.

Then, finally, how can I get rid of all the files associated with that path if I need to?

Sincerely,

Captee

Windows.Old.000 has nothing to do with Everything, per se.
You can exclude it in Everything in Tools | Options | Indexes -> Exclude.

If you need nothing there, How can I remove “Windows.old.000”?

In the C:\Windows.old folder you can find the backup that Windows makes before starting the upgrade.
Those files and folders will be removed automatially after 30 days (IIRC).

If you still have enough space on your C:-drive, there is no need to delete it.
