PM (Private Messages)

Post by tuska »

Hello,

for a few days now, I have observed that a PM (Private message) is in the "Outbox" for a very long time,
before it finally appears in the "Sent messages" folder.

I have sent a PM:

Code: Select all

UTC+01:00 - 28 February 2021, 16:27
This is still in the "Outbox" until now:

Code: Select all

UTC+01:00 - 01 March 2021, 09:54
So I assume that this has not been delivered yet.

Is there a problem with PM messages?

(Just to mention in passing that after a "preview" the recipient of the message is deleted from the corresponding field,
but the message is normally delivered).

From what I understand, messages stay in your outbox until they are read by the recipient.

I'm obviously too stupid for the PM (Private Messages) system.

Today on 1.3.2021 I tried to reply to a PM:
- Opened PM in Inbox, clicked button "Send Reply", added recipient, entered text, Preview, Submit --> 3x
- PM - Button "Quote message" pressed, recipient added, text entered, Preview, Submit --> 1x

Then I composed a new message:
- PM -> "Compose message" clicked, recipient added, subject and text entered, Preview, Submit --> 1x

I cannot see anywhere whether a message has arrived, because there is no message in the "Outbox"
and in "Sent messages" there are only 3 replies from me from 26.2.,27.2. and 28.2.2021.

I think the problem is probably in front of my PC and therefore I ask for support.
What could I be doing wrong here?

Karl

Make sure you actually added the recipient. You should see the name like below:

Or your mailbox might be full?

EDIT:

I should say: your Sent Messages box might be full

There is a storage limit of 50 private messages.

Do you have 50 messages in your outbox? -please try deleting some older messages.

The recipient might have over 50 messages in their inbox. (recipient's inbox is full)

I've increased the storage limit from 50 private messages to 250 private messages.
Does the issue persist?

@NotNull & @void
Thank you for your support!

Code: Select all

Inbox Folder is 1% full (4 out of 250 messages stored)
Outbox Folder is 0% full (0 out of 250 messages stored)
Sent messages	Folder is 1% full (3 out of 250 messages stored)
I have just tried to reply to a PM: 01.03.2021 23:15 (in Browser EDGE)
and before sending it I checked again that the recipient's name is in the appropriate field.
This time I even did NOT use the preview.

To me it looks again as if the message has "disappeared".

With Firefox 86.0 (32-bit) I also failed to send a new message (PM).

@NotNull
I can receive your messages with PM.
Since PM does not work for me at the moment, I have uploaded a text file to OneDrive for you.

In my case, the solution is obviously the following:

1. I click on a message in the inbox, then on button "Send reply"
2. Now the system automatically switches to the "Compose message" folder
3. "Add recipient": e.g. Recipient NotNull is recorded by me
4. Subject: Re: PM
5. Text is entered by me: Test-PM
6. Click on button "Submit" -> "Preview: Re: PM / Text: Test-PM" and the recipient was automatically deleted!
7. Click on button "Submit" WITHOUT the recipient being recorded again
8. NOW the message is sent and visible in the "Sent messages" folder!

I find that quite confusing. :?

Below the preview you can still see the message in edit mode. Thàt is the message you will send.
Typically the recipient(s) is/are still listed there.

The preview is an impression of how it would look at the other end ( = the recipient).

At least, that is how I understand it ..

Yes, thank you.
Now I see that and everything is clear to me.

I was mainly irritated by the fact that in the preview the recipient was no longer displayed in the field "Add recipient:".

Thanks for your support!
