SHA256 file?

Post by ajitama »

Hi, first time trying to download Everything. I have downloaded Everything-1.4.1.1000.x86-Setup.exe and tried to verify the hash with the SHA256 file provided below the download links and they do not match. the SHA256 file i downloaded was Everything-1.4.1.1000.sha256. Did i do something wrong here? (i am sure im checking the SHA256 hash)

I'm getting the correct sha256 hash for Everything-1.4.1.1000.x86-Setup.exe:
f9dedc6a5b47a41b9399182b57bc4240c0861eedb9a3bbaa45387034b6d09bf5

What hash are you getting? please make sure you are matching the correct file to the correct hash (eg: Lite/x86/x64/en-US).
What program are you using to produce the hash? -If you need a sha256 checker, please consider 7zip.
Please check your PC for viruses.

hi there, i am getting f9dedc6a5b47a41b9399182b57bc4240c0861eedb9a3bbaa45387034b6d09bf5 as sha256 for the x86 .exe. I feel like im using the SHA256 file that i downloaded wrong..? what would be the correct way to check it?
note: i am using cmd's CertUtil function to check it; and I am pretty sure my computer is clean of virus.

Sorry I didnt mean to imply anything was wrong with the sha256 i outputted. I just wanted to know what is the correct way of using the .sha256 file i obtained from the website to check the hash of my download because my .exe hash matches what void said, but when i tried to check it with the .sha256 file myself i get different results.

Open the downloaded file "Everything-1.4.1.1000.sha256" with an editor.
It contains SHA256 hash values for different files/versions, as already explained by the author above.

Hi tuska, thanks for explaining the process now i know whats wrong. and sorry i did not understood what the author meant by that at first glance due to my mistake.

note: to ovg, i dont know whether if my response to yours has gone missing or it isnt approved yet, but i didnt intend to mean that there was something wrong with my .exe file's hash. sorry about that.
