start up Everything with a blank search window

How can I make "search everything" start with a blank screen when opening up?
I ticked the boxes in options:
"create a new window from system tray"
"create a new window when running Everything"
Every time I start Everything it opens up with a load of strange files.

it's not a major issue, nevertheless very annoying.
