Always get duplicates in results

Post by RedXIII » Fri Mar 15, 2019 6:08 pm

I really like SE and use it everyday, but this problem has been bugging me from the start.

I always get 2 copies of files in my results. Both of the files seem to have the same location. Is this caused by there being a windows cache somewhere?

BTW my folders are set up as:
c:\
d:\downloads
d:\pictures

So there shouldn't be any overlap.

UPDATED
It seems to work better without adding any folders for some reason so maybe that's the answer.

From the Everything FAQ:

Duplicated results

NTFS volumes are automatically indexed by "Everything".

Adding a NTFS volume as a folder index will show duplicated results.

Please remove any NTFS volumes from your folder indexes:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Select any NTFS volumes and click Remove.
  • Click OK.
To check which NTFS volumes are automatically included:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab.
  • NTFS volumes that have Include in database checked are already included as a NTFS index.
