scanning a specific disk forever - no search in meantime...

Postby faroe2k9 » Mon Apr 10, 2017 6:42 pm

Hi there

When scanning one of my external drives, it scannings takes forever. Seems that it just hangs.. Nothing happens, and the search function is not working.

What can I do, besides to unplug this USB drive? Have tried to remove it from the settings, but when pressing "OK" - it the windows hangs again.. nothing happens.

Besides that - this program is totally rock awesome in searching. Use it everyday - well before I got this issue...

regards
Thomas

Please try disabling "Automatically Included new fixed volumes" and "Automatically included new removable volumes":
[*]In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
[*]Click the NTFS tab.
[*]Uncheck Automatically Included new fixed volumes.
[*]Uncheck Automatically included new removable volumes.
[*]Click OK.

-or-

Please try the Everything 1.4 beta:
http://www.voidtools.com/downloads/

The Everything 1.4 beta has a quick reindex feature which makes adding and removing a USB drive to the index faster.
