Sorting

Post by mike21 »

Hello and congratulations for the excellent app.

I jump to my questions:

1) I want everything to be sorted by modification date. But each time I close it and re-open it the files are sorted by name. Is there any way to overcome this?

2) How can I have files and folders mixed, like locate, directory opus etc ? I mean folders not to appear on the top or the bottom, but to be mixed with files, according to the sorting order.

Thanks.

No, currently sorting by date is not efficient for large list.
"Everything" will reset to sorting by name after changing the search.
I am looking at the possibility of keeping the sort order for smaller lists..
Improving the sorting performance is also on my "Things to do" list.

Currently, It is not possible to mix folders and files.
Files and folders are treated differently in "Everything".
I will consider adding the option to mix files and folders together.

I wanted to add that if you implement some of the suggestions that you posted on the "things to do" post, your program will become essential.

I just bought a modern computer and the sorting of all results (even on blank search) is performed in one second without any drive load or impact.

Keep up the good work ;)

Please try sorting with the new recent changes with the latest alpha from:
http://forum.voidtools.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=422

Recent changes is similar to date modified, but only shows files in the USN Change Journal.

Sorting by recent changes is kept when changing the search.

Sorting by recent changes is instant.
