Direct indexing of files

Postby jamessmith260996 » Mon Jan 22, 2018 7:04 pm

I have just re-installed Everything after messing up the exclusion of .lnk extension files previously. I then searched on 'cc ', expecting, as before, for a list with all files beginning 'cc' at TOP of the list. I get a massive list of folders followed by filenames in alphabetic order. What is happening?

searched on "cc"'

"CC" would find files & folders that contain the characters, CC.
"CC*" would find files & folders that begin with CC.

re-installed ... searched on "cc"

If you're meaning from the dropdown history, then the reinstall may have deleted that.
(Not sure what a "reinstall" would or would not do?)

Do a search for "Search History.csv".
Have a look at the file (with a text editor or similar) - do not make changes to it, but see if it might contain pertinent data (or at least what you would expect to be older data, as if the install deleted it, it would exist, again, but would only have current data - since the install).

Or if you had a backup of that file...
