Everything Toolbar in the Taskbar

Post by gocool » Thu Sep 25, 2014 5:50 am

Hi, can you please add a toolbar feature in the taskbar, which shows suggestions in a drop down menu as we search.

Something like this.

Thank You!

A taskbar toolbar is on my "TODO" list.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Another vote up for this. I use Everything so many times in a day, I'd love to have faster access to it.

Thanks!

Is this feature still planned?

It is still on the to-do list. Search the forum for "deskband" - the official name - for more threads on this (all saying it is still on the to-do list ;))

I created an Everything deskband to mimic the original Windows 10 taskbar search bar. It's available on github if anybody is interested: https://github.com/stnkl/EverythingToolbar

Very cool! Can it be made floating and (ideally) integrated with https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/ ... n-Overview?
Also, here is the tangentially relevant topic at TC's forum: https://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=72211

Just stumbled upon this thread and installed the deskband toolbar. However, it does not show any results after typing. This might be because I use named instances for Everything. Just tested also without named instance and then I immediately get results.

Can you confirm whether the toolbar uses the default instance name of Everything? And would it be possible to implement support for named instances?

Yes. Looks like the SDK does not support named instances yet. So for now this will not be implemented.

Thx for the update. Maybe David will release a newer SDK, hard to say.
