1.5 1251a search focus.

Post by minsik » Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:33 am

Hi and wow. So many new and useful features its mind exploding! Great work.
I have a minor query re the focus of searching.
On open everything its selected to type a search (as i have the option "focus search on activate " as active).

However the difference is now where selecting a result item from the list, so focus changes to the result list area, "F3" used to return to the search bar and enable one to type/update/overtype the original query to carry out another search does not work in this version.
Is there a keyboard shortcut key that would enable this?

thanks again.

The network drives seems a great addition to me as adding network locations and the associated problems of having them showing in the search results while they were offline was sometimes useful and sometimes not.
So the addition of mapped drives to automatically add and remove when connected or not connected and till being able to search local drives is a top feature.

Thank you for your feedback minsik,

To set F3 to focus the search bar:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Keyboard tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show commands containing, type in: focus
  • Select Search Edit | Focus Search Edit.
  • Click Add....
  • Press F3.
  • Click OK.
By default, F3 will be used for the new find bar/find dialog which is currently in development.

Thanks so much David, too many new bright shiny things to press!
Those instructions worked well.

I can see where this is going and the future looks good.

Minsik.
