I've just discovered shell: in everything...There's quite a lot of options to remember.

Possibly a way, when entering shell:,to list the folderid's and be able to choose the required one?

By periodically save to disk, do you mean the ability to set a time period for a save? eg. Every 30 mins, every 45mins etc.

That would be useful.

Further to my suggestion of multiple temp exclude lists I was thinking that maybe the ability to create different folders within the list would be useful. I'm trying to get away from using excludes because of re-indexing and leave temp excludes on but it gets confusing trying to remember what to kee...

My temp exclusion list is different from my exclusion list...Would it be possible to have an option to enable/disable re-indexing of properties when the exclusion list is toggled on or off?

I exit everything as a matter of course so that all the files can be updated when backing up the folder...I'm wondering if it's necessary to stop the service as well. Is there a way of retaining the row mouseover (temporarily locking it in place) when I move the mouse away or Everything is inactive?
It works for just highlighting the name but not the full row.

I'm using 1.5 and I also have another instance running using the same service.

Pressing the space bar doesn't seem to copy Everything to the clipboard, it doesn't do anything at all.

I'll try the without alpha instance but what does this do?

Thanks, I already have alternate rows enabled...Grid lines will help a lot.

Is there a way of keeping the row highlighted when I move the focus away from Everything?

It would be nice to be able to have the highlighted line to remain when Everything is not in focus or grid lines in the search window similar to Nirsoft programmes.

When Everything is not in focus it can be difficult to follow the line.

Using space bar

I'm using a programme called quicklook, it enables me to view files by pressing the space bar.

I tried using it from within Everything but highlighting a file and pressing the bar has no effect. Any way round this please?

Thanks, the box being on the left would be better for my line of sight and the change of colour would be a good reminder.

I quite like the idea of the status bar at the very top (in the blue bar) as it saves a little bit of room in an area which is, by and large, wasted.

Thanks, I've decided to have another instance running. I've setup the new instance and created a shortcut file with Everything.exe -instance harry...I've been trying to use the existing service with the pipe command but I can't seem to get it working. Could you tell me what has to be entered please?...

Thanks, actually I'm being incredibly dense, I've seen that option so many times but I've never used it..I've just used the pause updates. If I pause property indexing, then disable the exclude list...do a search, re-enable the exclude list and then uncheck property indexing, will Everything resume ...

Opposite question...is there a way of creating, in the context menu, some of the keyboard commands so that the mouse, rather than the keyboard can be used?

If the window is higher up on the screen the menu is still visible so hovering over the menu items isn't a problem but if the Everything window is lower down the window and the menu items are completely covered.

Thanks for looking at that...I'll muck around with the menu items per column, but maybe the increase to 11000 items will help. I think a bookmarks sidebar will help a lot with the various bookmarks display issues I have. I quite like sidebars in general as well because of display issues and it saves...

Also, I use dc:last10mins and dm:last10mins which gives the most recent created and modified files. Adjust the time period to whatever you need.

When the Everything window is full screen it's not a problem but when the window is reduced some of the pop up menus completely hide the Everthing window so that I have to either press esc or click somewhere else on the screen to get rid of the menu.

Thanks...I have different entries in each exclusion list so I suppose the best way for the moment would be to create a separate instance of Everything.

You did mention a while back that you were considering implementing multiple temp excludes list.

I do seem to have the problem of constant re-indexing with each small change I've made. For instance everytime I enable or disiable the exclude list Everything performs a re-index.

I don't remember this happening on 1.4
