Re: Poll: What are your favorite features for the next version of Everything?
For the dark mode 'voters' : workaround for the current version of Everything. (in case you missed it) I have this installed already for quite some time, much appreciated! However, 'native' dark theme which also takes menu bars, dialogs etc into account is preferred (like with TC 9.51, you know wha...

Re: Poll: What are your favorite features for the next version of Everything?
The few things that I can come up with:
- Dark mode
- Updated Everything SDK that supports named instances
- Indexing of some extra file properties, like bitrate, exif (has been mentioned before as tagging)

Re: Everything Toolbar in the Taskbar
Just stumbled upon this thread and installed the deskband toolbar. However, it does not show any results after typing. This might be because I use named instances for Everything. Just tested also without named instance and then I immediately get results. Can you confirm whether the toolbar uses the ...

Re: Can I change default verb for context menu?
Hi David, This can not be changed for just Everything. You can change the default verb for the entire system, however, you will need to change it for every single file type. I was already afraid it would be system wide, which is too much hassle, since it would only be of use within Everything. The t...

Can I change default verb for context menu?
Hi, Something which is not obvious to me is whether I can change the default verb for the context menu within Everything. The default is now always Open, but I'd prefer "Open path" to be the default. The only way that occurs to me now is to change the command behind the "Open" verb to act as "Open p...

Re: Everything Icons in Different Colors
Yes, that works! I tried something like this, and came close, but no cigar. I used Everything (instance name).ico, because that is how the tray icon shows its tooltip. Please try renaming your Everything icon to:
Everything-<instance name>.ico
Thanks void!

Re: Everything Icons in Different Colors
Please make sure you extract the icon color of choice and rename it Everything.ico. Where did you place your Everything.ico ? Is Everything -> Tools -> Options -> General -> Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything checked? Is your Everything icon file named Everything.ico ? Do you have Expl...

Re: Everything Icons in Different Colors
Some time ago, I've followed the instructions in the link and didn't get it to work, the taskbar icon remained the default orange. I did not think much of it, but after an experiment today I realise that the coloured icon is actually working, but only for unnamed instances. And I'm always using name...

Re: Hosting problem?
I'm indeed running https Everywhere! It is not necessary to disable it completely, when you click on the "S" icon, you'll be presented with a rule for voidtools.com; if you just uncheck that, and reload the website without https:// prefix, it will work again. Still odd that the https will redirect t...

Re: Hosting problem?
Still the same, but only for Opera (my preferred browser). When trying to access the site using Edge or IE it works fine. Probably a cache/DNS/proxy/whatever problem?

Hosting problem?
Hi David,
When trying to check http://www.voidtools.com, I get an Oops, that page cannot be found, and pav.com.au homepage (probably the hoster?) is displayed.

Full RSS feeds for Board?
Hello,
I'm a regular user of newsreader/newsfeeds. Would it be possible to publish the board forums also as RSS feeds? This would make it much easier to monitor the board, since my newsreader is open all the time anyway.

Re: Possible to generate filelists outside Everything?
Hi David, Yes, I know about the -create-filelist option. The problem is that it is so slow over the network. Moreover, the NAS is also not state-of-the art and access is sometimes sluggish. If the NAS itself could generate filelists, that would exclude any network traffic (which seems to be be the m...

Possible to generate filelists outside Everything?
Hi, I own a Synology NAS which is indexed (as a set of folders) by Everything. Problem is that the indexing is painstakingly slow and after starting Everything it takes 15+ minutes or more before the indexing is ready. I figured that using a filelist would solve this, since it is plainly included wi...

How to address Everything named instance via IPC?
Hi Void, I'm using Everything 1.4.0.713b as a named instance, which is currently not working correctly with Total Commander. If I test without named instance, the connection is working. What is the best way to address a named instance via IPC? Comment from TC Author in forum: I have checked this now...

Use separate user/machine profiles
Hi, I'm using the same portable Everything installation on multiple machines (by sharing it using Dropbox). I would like to be able to make for every machine a different profile. So machine A has a set of drive mappings, while machine B has another set of mappings. Also not every machine has the sam...

Re: Could you add an option "update database manually" ?Than
Hello, I can confirm mentioned behaviour and support this request. In my case I've also indexed some server shares (which are indexed much slower than NTFS volumes) so it can take a few minutes after first start before Everything can be used (no searches possible during scan process). Maybe scanning...
