Re: Folder index: options action for one time clearing index for a folder (without removing it)

Unfortunately, this removes the folder from the index and you will need to re-add it when you need it again.. Yes. My workaround was instead to shutdown Everything, edit out that particular folder path in Everything.ini, restart and reindex, shutdown again, edit back in the path in Everything.in, r...

Folder index: options action for one time clearing index for a folder (without removing it)

I index a folder on a backup drive that is at times connected to the PC but most of the time not connected. While connected I want the Folder index setting to rescan the folder for changes and update the index, which it does. When the drive is unplugged I sometimes want to keep the index for that fo...

Re: Trend Micro flagging Everything as PUA.Win32.FileSearcher.C

Thanks for clarifying the situation. I see the challenge in effectively locking down IPC access (without removing IPC altogether) in cases where the attacker already has gained admin access to the system by other means, but hopefully something can be done.

Re: Trend Micro flagging Everything as PUA.Win32.FileSearcher.C

It is not made clear in the above if those external actors who used Everything maliciously did so by (1) looking for and exploiting existing installs of Everything or (2) bundling/downloading a copy of Everything when the malware got onto the system. In case the problem was (1) then can we do someth...

Re: ES 1.1.0.1 Alpha Command Line Tool for Everything 1.4.1

This worked in ES 1.1.0.4a es.exe "C:\" -efu "D:\a.efu" But it does not work for me in ES 1.1.0.6a or 1.1.0.8. In those newer versions the cmd prompt only prints the string "Filename,Size,Date Modified,Date Created,Attributes" and no .efu file is saved. Edit: never mind, the syntax had changed. This...

Re: Labels/Tags, Do you think Everything can do something?

We can already put tags in the filenames manually and use Everything to search for the tags. One great open source tool for quick filename tagging, and more, is https://www.tagspaces.org/ .

Re: efu: context menu: total file size for folder/selected files

I had missed that. Thanks! Confirmed working inside .efu for offline files so that (premptively) solved half my suggestion. As for the other half, there is currently no way to in .efu select a folder and get the recursive total size of all files below that folder (that are present in the .efu), right?

efu: context menu: total file size for folder/selected files

With 1.4 the the right click context menu enables us to open properties and see the total file size of the selected files and/or folders. Add a similar feature inside .efu files. A simpler version of this feature that only sum the total size of selected items without recursing into folders would als...

efu lists: visual cue in results + search set of efu files

First request: When efu file lists are included in the default search index (options > indexes > file lists) add a visual cue for items from the file lists in the search results. Perhaps a light color background. A second request concerning efu file lists: I request a mode that searches across a set...

Request: folder navigation mode for efu file lists

The .efu file list feature can be used to index portable harddrive or other storage units. Add a folder navigation mode so Everything can better replace disk cataloging tools like Virtual Volumes View, Cathy or Disk Explorer. We can currently index different drives/discs and save each index as a sep...
