After sorting results by clicking the Path column, the result is not as I expected. A couple of C: entries are isolated that the top.

I searched with Richard*.jpg
but got many irrelevant hits containing strings like CliffRichard etc, so I changed to
Richard*.jpg !Cliff

But why has that not removed those unwanted hits please?

Thanks. Presumably that's because of the space in each of my search strings? If so why not group both of them? This

seems to work OK and is more intuitive IMO.

If I use the following search I get hits only on D:
*_DSC*.jpg c:|*_DSC*.jpg d:

And
*_DSC*.jpg d: | *_DSC*.jpg c:
gives only hits on C:

Why am I not getting hits on both drives please/

Maybe in the middle of a string: "xxx*yyy"

But even in this case I would start with "xxx yyy" and see if there is a need to use a more complex search - often this will find what I need without creating a more complex search.

I tried both neat tools, thanks.

fsutil works fine from Win 10's Run box. Interestingly Tree Size displayed the result of
fsutil.exe file createnew 1GB.deleteme 1073741825
as '1GB.deleteme 1.0 GB '.

EDIT a few mins later: And the same for 1073741824

Turns out that
D:\DVD Archives size:>1Gb
does work after all.

But the hundred or so files (VOBs) had a size shown as 1,048,574 KB. Which is below the
strictly defined size of 1 GB, namely 1,048,576 KB!

As mentioned, I used Macro Express Pro to create a macro to do so, activated in several ways.
The next major version of Everything will have the #clipboard: search which will be replaced with the clipboard contents.

Thanks, appreciate the fast reply. Prompted by your post I think I may have been using one of my Macro Express Pro scripts. I have several. But after a (very brief) search I couldn't find one that pasted directly from the clipboard on opening Everything. Maybe I'll write one.

I'm pretty sure that at one time I was able to copy something to the Windows clipboard, and when I started Everything it was already pasted into the search box. If so, could someone remind me of the setting please?

I'm using Win 10 Pro Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.471) with Everything 1.4.1.895 (x64)

For the last week or so, whenever I right click a selected hit in the list, Everything crashes ( "Not responding"). I then have to restart followed by a longish wait for the rebuild.

I'm sure this will be embarrassingly obvious, but... how do I search for the single file sim.ckt, not the hundred or two files that contain the string 'sim.ckt', like xyzsim.ckt etc? I tried quotes, 'groups', match whole word... no joy yet.
