Re: Symbolic links
Thanks for your enormous effort developing and maintaining this prog. I understand the performance issues when updating the index. But looking at a program like "TreeSize Free" shows that there might be another option: you could just do a "live" traversal on request only. Following the selected fold...

Re: Symbolic links
I totally agree with @colinchaffin -- whose post is from 2017, but no real answer seems to have been given. Using a file for each junction within a folder I would like to search is totally unpractical . Consider this, with search addressing backups with names\dates like \20110203: \folder to search ...

Improve handling of rename collisions for multiple files
When Rename is selected by right click on Everything results, there is a very useful pattern matching replacement functionality in Everything. However, in case of a file name collision, I receive a query about what to do, allowing only three options, and the first one (try again) is always selected....

Re: REsult list - content view
I think this would be quite useful.
I would also suggest to generaslize this: show explorer in the results window when a folder is selected, showing the files in selectable views.
It would save having to open an explorer window, e.g. when walking directories.

Re: Not finding all the files
There ist also an unexpected behaviour with excluded folders: when you add a subfolder of an excluded folder into the "folders to scan", the contents are ignored. I think, when you explicitly include a folder, it should never be ignored. The exclude is even prioritized when you define a junction in ...

Re: How to update everything to the new version (BETA)?
The problem exists because Everything.Exe is running (e.g. as a task). Before replacing it, you must completely quit all, if need be, by task manager.
I have found that using just File/Exit (in the window or the task bar icon) may not close the system task (strangely, only sometimes).

Re: Content Searching
I may be blind, but I can not find the Content: function in the help for search syntax.
I knew it was there (from the very bottom of my memory about reading in forum).

Re: Things to do
Every-Body loves EveryThing ;) What I can't find (or is missing) is a way to specify a filter programmatically. In particular, I would like to open the program using specifically the (implicit) filter "All Files", without setting the default filter used when I open Everything later. Example: I have ...

Sort on all Date columns wrong, year ordering incorrect
With version 1.3.4.636 the sort order is totally incorrect. Could it be related to county settings, but wrong? My country format is dd.mm.yyyy. I get this on ascending ( column dc ): 04.02.2011 17:59 -- topmost in list 04.02.2011 18:06 -- apparently correct time part ... 06.02.2011 14:07 -- looks go...

Re: finding duplicates / MD5
First, thanks for providing Version 686. Regarding this discussion: there are lots of "hashers" around (Beyond Compare, FreeCommander,...) But what is really needed is a way to get the hashes loaded into the Everything Database and make them visible+sortable as a column! Based on the identity of MD5...

1.3.1.636b: Crash on switching windows (Alt-Tab)
When I Switch between applications using Alt-Tab Everything crashes very frequently when I return to it (not when leaving it). It does not happen all the time: Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: Everything.exe, Version: 1.3.1.636, Zeitstempel: 0x5124abc7 Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: Everything.exe, V...
